Advancement Manager

Position Overview

The Calverton School seeks a highly organized, detail-oriented, and mission-driven Advancement Manager to support and manage the school’s fundraising operations and key advancement initiatives. This role is responsible for gift processing and database management, oversight of the Annual Fund,

coordination of major fundraising events, grant writing and management, and support of a forthcoming 60th Anniversary Legacy Campaign. Reporting to the Head of School and working closely with senior leadership and advancement volunteers, the Advancement Manager plays a critical role in

strengthening Calverton’s culture of philanthropy and ensuring smooth, effective execution of all

advancement efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Advancement Operations and Raiser’s Edge

• Serve as the primary administrator for Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge, including accurate gift entry,

pledge management, acknowledgments, and reconciliation

• Maintain donor records, appeals, campaigns, and reporting structures to support fundraising
• Generate regular reports for school leadership and advancement committees
• Ensure data accuracy, confidentiality, and best practices in donor stewardship

Annual Fund Management

• Manage day-to-day operations of Calverton’s Annual Fund, including appeals, timelines, and

donor segmentation

• Track participation and progress toward annual goals and assist with donor recognition and stewardship efforts
• Coordinate annual giving communications

Fundraising Events

• Coordinate planning and execution of Calverton’s Annual Auction and Golf Tournament,

including

• Vendor and venue coordination
• Sponsor and donor tracking
• Volunteer coordination and event logistics
• Post-event acknowledgments and reporting

Grants and Institutional Giving

• Research and write grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and government entities
• Coordinate internal information gathering and budgeting for grant submissions
• Track grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and outcomes

60th Anniversary Legacy Campaign Support

• Assist with planning and implementation of a 60th Anniversary Legacy Campaign
• Support campaign materials, donor outreach, and stewardship activities
• Track gifts and pledges related to anniversary initiatives
• Coordinate recognition and communications tied to the campaign

Collaboration and Support

• Work closely with the Head of School, CFOO, admissions, athletics, and residential life teams to align fundraising efforts with school priorities
• Support Advancement Committee activities and volunteer engagement
• Assist with donor events and stewardship activities as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Three to five years of experience in advancement, development, or nonprofit fundraising
• Proficiency with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge required
• Strong writing and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and deadlines
• Experience in an independent school or nonprofit environment preferred

About The Calverton School

The Calverton School a college preparatory, day (and now boarding) school located in Huntingtown, Maryland, approximately 45 minutes east of Washington, D.C. and 30 minutes south of Annapolis, MD. The school enrolls 270 students in Preschool through Grade 12, and offers the IB program for 11th and 12th grades. All of the school’s graduates are accepted into four-year colleges and universities. Students come from five counties, including Calvert, Charles, St. Mary's, Anne Arundel and Prince George's.
