POSITION SUMMARY

The Membership and Marketing Specialist supports APGO’s membership growth and engagement and promotes the organizations mission, programs, and services. This role is responsible for executing membership recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies, and for developing and implementing marketing and communication initiatives that enhance visibility, drive participation, and strengthen member value.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Membership

• Support the development and execution of membership recruitment and retention campaigns.
• Respond to membership inquiries and provide high-quality customer service.
• Maintain the membership database, ensuring data accuracy, timely updates, and effective segmentation.
• Generate membership reports, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and analyze trends.
• Coordinate onboarding and engagement strategies for new members, including welcome materials and orientation.
• Assist with member surveys, focus groups, and other feedback mechanisms.
• Manage multiple calls for volunteers for APGO committees and the Board of Directors.
• Create member programs.
• Direct the activities of the APGO Alumni Society.

Marketing  

• Develop and distribute email campaigns, newsletters, and digital content to promote membership, programs, and events.
• Manage social media platforms and create compelling content to grow audience engagement.
• Assist in the production of marketing collateral, including brochures, flyers, and digital assets.
• Maintain and update website content related to membership, events, and news.
• Ensure brand consistency and adherence to style guidelines across all platforms.
• Collaborate with staff and partners to promote initiatives, partnerships, and success stories.

Events & Engagement

• Support marketing and registration efforts for webinars, conferences, and member events.
• Assist in the planning and delivery of virtual and in-person member engagement events.
• Represent the organization at events and conferences, as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant experience, ideally in a membership-based or nonprofit organization.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact).
• Familiarity with membership management software (YourMembership, preferred)
• Proficiency with social media platforms and content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Collaborative team player with a member-focused mindset.
• Experience with data analytics or reporting tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
• Understanding of nonprofit operations and the value of member engagement.
