Retained search for a global, mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking a Senior Director, Schools to lead strategy, growth, and engagement across its K–12 independent and international schools portfolio.
This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for shaping the future of school engagement on a global scale—driving membership growth, strengthening partnerships, and positioning the organization as a leading authority in educational advancement.
This role serves as a senior enterprise leader and strategic advisor, working across a global network of schools, volunteers, and partners. You will define and execute a scalable strategy that enhances member value, drives revenue, and expands global engagement within the K–12 sector.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
Define and lead global strategy for independent and international schools
Develop a compelling value proposition to drive membership growth and engagement
Translate global trends into innovative programs and scalable solutions
Membership Growth & Revenue
Drive acquisition, retention, and engagement across the schools segment
Lead revenue strategy across programs, partnerships, and events
Establish performance metrics, forecasting, and growth targets
Global Engagement & Partnerships
Build and maintain relationships with heads of school, advancement leaders, and boards
Serve as a visible external ambassador and thought leader
Develop strategic partnerships with global school networks and associations
Programming & Convenings
Provide oversight for flagship conferences and global initiatives
Guide development of content, research, and professional learning programs
Ensure offerings meet the needs of diverse, global school communities
Leadership & Management
Lead and develop a high-performing team
Collaborate across a global, matrixed organization
Contribute to senior leadership and organizational strategy
10+ years of leadership experience in advancement, membership, or education-focused organizations
Experience working with independent and/or international schools
Proven ability to drive revenue, grow membership, and manage budgets
Strong understanding of advancement functions (fundraising, alumni relations, communications, marketing)
Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
Strategic thinker with strong business and financial acumen
