At National PTA, we're on a mission to make a difference in the lives of children and families across the nation. Our Resource Development team plays a core role in supporting this mission, and we're looking for a passionate and energetic Manager to join our team.
The Resource Development Manager position is responsible for building and stewarding a portion of National PTA’s $13millon+ portfolio of corporate and foundation partners. National PTA is fortunate to have support from multiple name-brand companies and foundations who care about helping kids reach their full potential. The Manager works across PTA departments and with potential funders to find common goals and match scopes of work to those goals. A key part of this role is soliciting, securing and managing relationships with a robust portfolio of funders to generate non-dues revenue for National PTA. The Manager also works closely with colleagues across PTA departments to ensure PTA meets the deliverables and commitments outlined in funder agreements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
REVENUE GENERATION
Generates new sponsors and funders for PTA, including prospecting and discovery research, responding to inbound requests, creation of pitch decks, writing grant proposals and other activities that support new business development. Responsible for building and growing a funder portfolio and meeting a revenue goal of $1million+.
Collaborates with other National PTA departments to vet potential sponsors, grant funders and other corporate and nonprofit partners and to develop scopes of work that support funder engagement and advance National PTA’s mission.
Works strategically with colleagues to ensure funded programs are delivered with a high level of quality, including a high level of involvement in program ideation, budgeting and activation.
STEWARDSHIP
Set and maintain a regular communication and meeting schedule with funders, including working with implementing departments to set meeting agendas and provide updates to funders.
Anticipates funder and National PTA expectations, needs, challenges and opportunities and plans ahead to ensure smooth implementation of contracts and grants.
Works closely with the Corporate Alliances and Stewardship Specialists and supports their ability to collaborate with PTA teams including Programs and Communications, to ensure that all contractual obligations are met in a timely and satisfactorily manner.
Serves as the lead liaison to sponsor and/or grant funder on reporting out, problem solving and negotiating, as needed.
Support sponsor-driven PTA initiatives and marketing campaigns (such as Teacher Appreciation Week and Back to School Week) ensuring that internal stakeholders are meeting goals and outcomes in a timely fashion.
Maintains highest level of confidentiality of sponsor and donor information.
OTHER
Support planning and execution of in-person cultivation and stewardship events, including domestic travel, sometimes 1-2 times a month.
Works with Director of Resource Development and the Resource Development team to define and prioritize personal and departmental goals.
Identify, communicate and align work to PTA DEI values and commitments to move the mission forward.
Participates in annual budget planning process.

A passion for the PTA, with any level of prior PTA experience being a plus.
A willingness to travel is required, including overnight and weekend travel.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree is required; a degree in education, marketing, business or a related field is a plus.
Minimum 5 years of experience in fundraising or donor relations.
Previous experience in a not-for-profit organization and the education sector is a plus.
A track record managing multiple $100k+ corporate and/or foundation partners is required.
Working conditions
Work is performed in a professional office environment in Alexandria, VA, currently on a hybrid schedule in-office 2 days per week with core office hours.
Position may be required to work some evenings and weekends for special programs/ events.
Position may be required to travel ~20% to support events.
This is a largely sedentary role. Routine activities and special events may require the ability to lift files, packages and related materials.
