The Vice President of Business Development and Membership is responsible for generating revenue through many avenues. This position will identify, evaluate, cultivate, and nurture existing and new business relationships, alliances, opportunities, and partnerships in support of CADCA’s strategic objectives. This includes specific responsibility for development and stewardship of CADCA’s members, industry partnerships, event sponsors and exhibitors, fundraising campaigns, and foundation grant opportunities.
The Vice President of Business Development and Membership currently manages a team of eight that includes two Membership team members, two Business Development team members, a Manager of Special Projects, a Manager of Customized Training Services, and two members of Grants and Contracts.
Manage a team of four committed to increasing revenue through industry partnerships, campaigns and events, foundations, grants and government support and individual giving.
Identify, research, and lead business development activities, corporate partnerships, foundation grant applications, and other opportunities to generate revenue.
Research and develop target lists of corporations, organizations, and donors.
Create new leads for potential partners.
Work with other CADCA departments to ensure all partner project deliverables and expectations are met.
Sustain relationships with current sponsors and partners to ensure good stewardship and satisfaction.
Renew and grow relationships with sponsors and partners.
Develop new opportunities by creating relationships, discussing strategic objectives, and writing and submitting proposals.
Monitor/manage budgets for new and existing projects, grants, and corporate partnerships as needed.
Manage all fundraising aspects of the annual DFKC Awards Dinner
Manage the relationships with the Honorees of the DFKC Awards Dinner
Grow and manage the DFKC Awards Dinner leadership team.
Work with all departments to create marketing materials including the web and online.
Manage all Individual Giving and donor communications efforts with the development department.
Represent CADCA at external industry events to cultivate and develop new and existing partner relationships.
Strong understanding of government budget and procurement cycles.
Tracking government funding opportunities and managing proposal submissions.
Manage a team of two committed to increasing CADCA’s membership base by creating value-added opportunities for members while retaining current members.
Manage all programs related to member retention and recruitment.
Achieve or exceed monthly and annual membership revenue and retention goals.
Oversee membership marketing efforts including development on a new CADCA member center.
Manage direct member communication strategies.
Oversee and develop the Membership department’s presence at industry events including CADCA’s National Leadership Forum and Mid-Year Training Institute
Develop and execute Membership Growth plan including short-term and long-term goals.
Communicate with other CADCA departments to continually invest in CADCA’s membership leads database.
Communicate with CADCA members, the CAC to ensure CADCA is delivering relevant and unique member benefits.
Manage CADCAs Online Community
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge and experience of business development, membership, and fundraising in a non-profit environment.
Experience leading high-performing teams.
Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, and sales presentation skills.
Attention to detail, knowledge of the business environment that CADCA operates in and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
The ability to collaborate and negotiate in a highly effective manner both within and outside the organization.
Experience growing and maintaining positive business relationships with corporations, foundations, and donors.
Dedicated to meeting deadlines on all projects and initiatives.
Some travel is required.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 10+ years of senior-level experience in Business Development.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a nonprofit organization.
A proven history of successful sales, fundraising, corporate development, and proposal writing are essential.
