The Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) is seeking an Events and Volunteers Manager (Park/Rec Specialist IV), in one of the most highly regarded park systems in the country. With over 420 parks and 23,000 acres of parkland that includes recreation and nature centers, golf courses, lakefront parks, and more, FCPA is an exciting organization to be a part of and there are many opportunities to make a difference.
Plans, develops, and directs community-based Summer Entertainment Series in county parks and other locations. Coordinates county-wide cultural programs and special events with other county agencies, and civic organizations, in collaboration with the Board of Supervisors, partnership with park supporter groups, local nonprofit cultural groups, and public/private partnership. Works in conjunction with the Fairfax County Park Foundation to secure sponsorship funding, works with corporate sponsors and community partners. Develops, negotiates, and manages contracts and invoices with performing artists, sound and video companies and other supporting services. Develops and manages annual budgets for each district's concert series. Supervises professional staff, contracted staff, part-time and volunteer staff. Serves as Volunteer Manager for Park Services Division, overseeing volunteer programs at nine RecCenter locations and community-based programs. Works collaboratively with Marketing and Communications to promote events. Develops long range, annual goals and objectives and program/service plans. Serves as a part of the branch management team and other agency assignments as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:(Click on the aforementioned link to learn how Fairfax County interprets equivalencies for “Any combination, experience, and training equivalent to”) Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in recreation and park management, therapeutic recreation, business administration/management, public administration, or a closely related field.; Plus, four years of progressively responsible experience in park management or multi-faceted recreation center management providing a variety of recreation programs in the area of assignment; two years of the required experience must have included supervisory duties.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with scheduling, supervision, and management of multiple, large, broad-based special events.
Experience in administering contracts and invoices for performing artists and sound/video companies.
Experience developing and managing budgets including grants and donation funds.
Experience in developing long range and annual program plans with operating, evaluation methods and reporting.
Experience in volunteer management and scheduling.
Experience working in collaboration with other agencies, civic organizations, boards, and partners.
Able to work evenings and weekends.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: Driver's License (Required)
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, child protective services registry check, and driver's record check to the satisfaction of the employer.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to stand, walk, stoop etc. Ability to carry 30 lbs. To setup portable stage and performance equipment as needed. To work on and with sound and lighting equipment. Working knowledge of proper use of sound equipment. All duties may be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
