The successful candidate will join the staff of Tax Executives Institute (TEI), the preeminent association of in-house tax professionals worldwide, in Washington, DC. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Governance and Operations Manager will assume responsibility for governance, administrative, and office management matters, and serve as a point of contact for multiple external parties. The Governance and Operations Manager will also support the Executive Director and Membership, Communications, Events, and Information Technology teams with ongoing and special projects to ensure the efficient operation of the Institute.
Tax Executives Institute was founded in 1944 by 15 corporate tax executives in New York City and is dedicated to improving the tax system in a principled, effective manner. Since its founding, TEI has grown into a global organization of over 6,000 members representing more than 3,000 of the leading businesses in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide year-round governance and administrative support for TEI’s volunteer Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and committees to support their operations, activities, and meetings
Coordinate governance-related communications and activities with TEI leadership, staff, constituents, and external parties
Support the Executive Director and Chief Tax Counsel with the preparation of agendas, meeting materials, and board books at Institute events; coordinate and collect staff and committee reports for the Board of Directors meetings; prepare annual proxy and ensure governance and bank forms are complete and up to date
Plan and provide support for TEI’s Annual Meeting of Members, Annual Conference, and Midyear Conference governance meetings, in coordination with Events Department
Update and maintain TEI’s Manual of Organization and Operation, as well as other documentation supporting TEI’s volunteer leadership, in coordination with the Membership Department; consult with TEI leaders regarding governance rules and procedures
