We work with more than 400 state and local Child Care Resource and Referral agencies to ensure that families in every community have access to quality, affordable child care.  Sitting at the nexus of child care policy, practice and research, CCAoA leads projects that increase the quality and availability of child care and advance the early childhood education profession.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Chief Development Officer is a dynamic and creative fundraiser who will develop and implement the strategic vision and planning for securing new income, developing relationships with major grantors and sponsors, and diversifying CCAoA’s revenue sources.  Reporting to the CEO, and managing a development team, they will be a member of the Executive Management Team and collaborate cross-functionally, and with all levels of the organization, to ensure income growth from multiple channels (individual giving, Board support, government (federal, state and regional), grants, corporate philanthropy, and sponsorship revenue.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Executive Management Team and internal stakeholders to develop a comprehensive fundraising strategy, timeline, and goals to generate new business streams.
• Maintain focus on building and expanding the major donor base to include corporate donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship of philanthropic organizations and government relationships and opportunities.
• As the principal development officer, provide strategic oversight and create and execute a business plan to advance and expand revenue Establish performance measures, monitor activities, and evaluate the efficacy of fund development activities.
• Establish the infrastructure to grow a multi-million dollar major gifts program that will increase over time as overall fundraising capacity grows.
• Leverage existing revenue sources while continually generating new sources of income through contracting CCAoA’s services with government (federal, state, and regional), military and corporate channels.
• Collaborate with Impact and Engagement team to plan and create content, presentation decks and other donor facing collateral as well as proposals.
• Represent CCAoA at strategic events and actively engage in networking events and business development
• Manage fiscal accountability and provide accurate monthly projections to Executive Management
• Build impactful relationships and accountability systems to ensure supporters are engaged and CCAoA’s mission is clearly
• Work closely with team and others in the execution of major fundraising programs such as online giving, annual giving campaigns, and social media

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree preferred in Business or related field. Knowledge of early childhood development a plus and/or related health, education, and public service
  • Minimum 10+ years in non-profit leadership role required.
  • CFRE certification preferred. Knowledge of applicable regulations and laws, as well as the code of ethics for fundraising professionals.
  • Experience securing restricted and unrestricted revenue from institutional funding sources including foundations and government, desired.
  • Superior management skills: demonstrated ability to develop and lead a high-performing team, influence and engage direct and indirect reports and
  • Strong collaborator with 10-plus years of development experience with a proven track record of success in a senior development/fundraising role.
  • High energy, persuasive communicator with a passion for CCAoA’s mission with the ability to interact effectively and build relationships.
  • Demonstrated success in major donor/high net-worth individual cultivation, corporate and foundation fundraising, digital fundraising and executing multi-level fundraising
  • Experience writing successful grant proposals, strong written and oral communication, interpersonal and presentation skills to effectively interface with senior management, Board of Directors, and
  • Ability to construct, articulate concise strategic direction, oversight, and efficient coordination to support the team in the execution of the development plan and effective monitoring of progress to achieve goals.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, Teams, Hub Spot and Salsa Labs/Bonterra or other related systems is desired.
