Seeking a strong relationship builder to join our team as the Chapter and Volunteer Relations Manager. Under the supervision of the Director of Membership, this very hands-on role will be the ambassador of our mission and vision for our members, chapters, and volunteer leaders. This position is responsible for advancing RAPS’s organizational goals through outreach, engagement, and support of our chapter leaders and committee members.
This position will directly oversee volunteer-led networks and provide operational, logistical, and strategic support in executing local activities that fuel member and community engagement. This role strategically manages the volunteer lifecycle, utilizing existing platforms to track and report performance metrics while connecting members with meaningful engagement opportunities that drive the regulatory affairs community. This role is also responsible for ensuring compliance with RAPS business models and managing day-to-day chapter and volunteer communications.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide operational support to volunteer chapter leaders in delivering professional development, webcasts, and networking activities of all formats while ensuring a positive experience for all stakeholders. This includes volunteer management, creation of promotional language, and logistical support/facilitation for 50+ chapter-led activities throughout the year.
Manage the annual chapter application and assessment process to promote sustainable and strategic growth of the Chapter network. Produce a yearly chapter assessment matrix to guide strategic planning at the regional/local level.
Serve as the primary POC for volunteer opportunities to internal and external stakeholders. Work cross-departmentally to further improve the volunteer development and orientation program to expand volunteer capacity and capability.
Responsible for planning and executing the annual Chapter Management operating budget.
Ensure compliance and efficiency with all chapter and volunteer support policies and procedures, implementing appropriate changes as necessary.
Coordinate and lead quarterly touchpoints with chapter leaders through appropriate channels to nurture relationships and maintain levels of engagement.
Manage the volunteer portal to create meaningful volunteer opportunities across the organization and produce annual reporting on volunteer metrics to track performance against strategic objectives.
Plan and execute appropriate volunteer training programs.
Execute chapter sponsorship deliverables and provide strategic guidance on recruitment and future offerings.
Collaborate cross-departmentally to introduce new and innovative engagement activity formats that build community at the local level and reinforce member value.
Work cross-departmentally to develop volunteer tools and resources to generate consistent engagement in regional and topic-focused online communities.
3+ years of experience working with volunteers, preferably with chapters or in a general membership role with an association
Understanding of the issues and challenges in working with an international membership, particularly chapters and volunteers
Strong interest and skills in working in a cross-functional team environment
Ability to develop and interpret qualitative and quantitative data
Experience and skills in guiding/mentoring volunteers
Keen ability to cultivate and grow relationships/partnerships
Member-focused, service-oriented approach to dealing with external stakeholders
Excellent internal/external written and verbal communication skills
Strong budget management, project management and analytical skills
Sound judgment and ability to make tough decisions

Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Impexium AMS and webcast/Zoom platforms preferred
