Overview: Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the Deputy CEO and Executive Director of Legal Resources will provide strategic initiative, leadership and oversight of NACUA legal resources, as well as direct, coordinate and supervise the Association’s legal resources and programming to ensure provision of current and relevant resources and programming to the membership and the general higher education community. This individual will also be responsible for organizing and implementing selected programming and advising and supporting the President and CEO.
Company: NACUA is a membership-based, non-profit organization whose mission is to advance the effective practice of higher education attorneys for the benefit of the colleges and universities they serve. The Association’s membership base is comprised of more than 5,000 attorneys who represent 1,800 nonprofit institutions of higher education. In-house counsel, attorneys in private practice, attorneys general, and other legal specialists and a vast array of institutions rely on NACUA as a primary source of information on higher education law and legal issues affecting colleges and universities. The Association produces a variety of legal resources, offers continuing legal education and provides assistance in a multitude of other ways in support of counsel for higher education institutions. Experience: The successful candidate will be a licensed attorney with at least ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience, preferably in higher education, law, policy or a related field. Familiarity with higher education and/or legal/education programming is strongly preferred. Leadership and management experience is required. Demonstrated commitment to NACUA’s core values of quality, collegiality, diversity, inclusiveness and respect are also required.
Bar: Must be licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
Location: Washington, D.C. with hybrid schedule; in-person requirement on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Additional in-person attendance required at times.
