Director of Estate and Trust Administration will have primary responsibility for the collection, conservation, administration and allocation of realized testamentary gifts to the University, including gifts by will or trust, retirement funds, payable on death accounts, and life insurance; as well as day-to-day management of the stock gift program and life income gift program.
Work InteractionsReporting to the AVP of Gift Planning, this position will work directly with executors, trustees, and other fiduciary/financial custodians as well as University Counsel and Finance to receive the full value of planned gifts in a timely and efficient manner and ensure against mismanagement and waste. This position will interact regularly with major gifts officers, Advancement Stewardship and Gift Agreements, the Office of Gift Accounting, and outside brokers and vendors.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Minimum of five to seven years of professional experience in nonprofit estate administration, estate settlement, or estate or trust administration
- Working knowledge of the legal, tax and procedural aspects of estate planning, estate administration, probate, fiduciary duties, estate and trust tax preparation and accounting
- Ability to interact professionally and effectively with attorneys, corporate and individual fiduciaries as well as accountants, financial custodians, surviving family members, and key internal partners within the University
- Strong verbal and writing skills, high attention to detail and follow-up, and excellent organizational and project management skills
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and tact
- Ability to work collegially and collaboratively in a team setting
- Demonstrates an exceptional work ethic and high level of personal initiative
- Flexibility and adaptability to new programs in an emerging and changing environment
- Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, the internal processes of the University as well as the technology tools available to the Office of Advancement, including Salesforce, PG Calc and TIAA Kaspick software
