The Washington Waldorf School is accepting applications for the Business Manager position effective immediately.
The Business Manager is responsible for maintaining all financial matters of the school’s operations including, overseeing all school purchasing, and tuition assistance and scholarship programs. The Business Manager collaborates with the Head of School, the Finance Committee, and the Board of Trustees in overseeing the financial and operational elements of the school.
Primary responsibilities include:
Oversees development and maintenance of the chart of accounts, establishment of accounting policies, and ensures internal financial control and financial regulatory compliance.
Provides reliable and accurate financial information and reporting.
Collaborates with the Development Team for the school’s endowment and investments and provides appropriate information on invested funds.
Directs all fiscal activities including all general ledger activities, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank deposits, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
Maintains budgetary and financial oversight for all auxiliary programs.
Collaborates with the Enrollment Team in the preparation and distribution of enrollment contracts.
Works with the Head of School and Human Resources to prepare and budget for employment contracts and benefit programs.
Supports and adheres to school policies in all areas of the school’s operation.
Establishes and maintains relationships with banks, auditors, school attorneys, other financial institutions.
Takes responsibility for the details of cash control and management and reports fraud.
Prepares annual tuition and fee schedules (approved by Finance Committee and Board).
Participates in the financial assistance awarding process and the resulting preparation and distribution of financial assistance enrollment contract addenda.
Attends Administrative and Faculty Meetings
Keeps the Head of School informed of all the school's financial affairs and condition.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of School.

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or finance.
5 years of experience in financial, accounting, or operational management.
Advanced knowledge of Excel, QuickBooks, and other financial/accounting software
Strong Excel skills required.
CPA or MBA with familiarity with GAAP nonprofit accounting.

Washington Waldorf School is located on a beautiful 6-acre campus in Bethesda, Maryland, a short distance from Washington DC, and within walking distance of the Potomac River. Our enrollment is about 300 students, from infancy through grade 12. We are fully accredited by the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America and the Association of Independent Maryland & DC Schools. Typical class size ranges from 18-25 students. We completed an extensive renovation of our building in 2015, and are planning additional improvements in the coming years.
