The Provisional Executive Director is a temporary, time-limited position, not to exceed one year, assisting the Executive Director as part of a phased transitional plan. The Provisional Executive Director assists the Executive Director in performing the day-to-day overall operations for The American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy (ABE), a 501(c)(6) nonprofit professional certification corporation. In the absence of the Executive Director, the Provisional Educational Director will perform the tasks of the Executive Director under supervision from the Board President.
This position has two components: (1) to support the Executive Director and the Board through the performance of administrative functions that promote the smooth and expeditious running of the office, the Board meetings and the certification process; and (2) to prepare to take over the Executive Director role, so the Provisional Executive Director can assume the Executive Director role whenever needed, and, should the incumbent be selected, assume the Executive Director position upon the Executive Director’s retirement.
The Provisional Executive Director must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, and preferably a Master’s Degree, in a discipline relevant to the responsibilities of the position.
The Provisional Executive Director must possess:
excellent oral and written communication skills
excellent interpersonal skills to work with a variety of individuals, including certification candidates, psychodrama trainers and students, Board Officers and Directors, and others.
competency in using the Internet, including maintenance of website and social media;
fluency with technology, including Microsoft Office Suite, document management, and standard accounting tools such as Quicken.
The Provisional Executive Director must be able to adequately fulfill all the duties, tasks and responsibilities of the position, and be willing to assume other job requirements as needed.
The Provisional Executive Director must live in the United States, and be willing to travel to Washington, D.C. and/or other locations as needed to work onsite with the Executive Director, Admissions Committee and Board Officers and Directors.
Experience in psychodrama, sociometry and group psychotherapy is desirable.
Psychodrama trainees who plan to apply for certification for the Certified Practitioner (CP) or the Trainer, Educator & Practitioner (TEP) credential are ineligible to apply.
Telecommuting is allowed.
Additional Salary Information: Salary to increase if incumbent is chosen as Executive Director after transition period.

The American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy (ABE/The Board) was founded to establish professional standards in the fields of psychodrama, sociometry and group psychotherapy, and to certify qualified professionals on the basis of these standards.
The Board currently seeks a Provisional Executive Director to support the transition to retirement of the Executive Director who has held the position for 30 years, and, if chosen, to take over the role.
