This position is located within Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, Inpatient Medical Oncology Unit .
Ability to assess psychosocial distress and mental health disorders related to patient and family goals and needs.
Integrates assessment using information related to cultural, clinical, ethnic, age and other factors into plan of care.
Documents assessment and plan in clinical record.
Performs appropriate evidenced-based clinical interventions for adjustment to illness, trauma, crisis intervention, survivorship, and grief.
Refers patients/families and caregivers to appropriate resources to enhance positive patient outcomes.
Documents in clinical record as appropriate.
Acts as active multidisciplinary team member, to assure that patient is referred to appropriate health care and community resources to optimize treatment outcomes.
Participates in patient and community psychoeducational programs.
Facilitates support groups for specified disease processes or challenges related to cancer and other chronic or life limiting illnesses and assists with community outreach as needed.
Strives to increase professional knowledge, develop expertise, and obtain appropriate CEU's to maintain licensure.
Participates in staff meetings and professional committees as assigned.
