The Donor Relations Manager is a new, vital role on CBOBS’ Development team and reports to the Chief Advancement Officer. The primary responsibility of this role is to drive CBOBS’ efforts to steward and grow its donor base by proactively communicating with donors and strategically building a steady stream of prospects for increased giving. To that end, the person in this role will be responsible for a variety of activities supporting donor qualification efforts, including emailing and calling donors, creating and reviewing donor prospect lists, assisting Development Officers in the scheduling of donor visits, planning donor experiences geared at engaging donors, writing content to send to donors, and gathering information upon donor request. The person in this role will strive to make the donor’s experience enjoyable and seamless. Their success will be measured, in part, by the number of face-to-face donor meetings conducted by Development Officers as a result of the Donor Relations Manager’s work.
Time is divided into two categories: 1) outward-facing donor outreach, stewardship, and writing; and 2) support provided to Development Officers for their donor work.
The person in this role needs experience working with donors, especially via email and phone, and supporting multiple stakeholders.
Proactively steward current donors using timely organizational updates.
Manage donor reporting process on scholarship funds and other restricted gifts.
With the assistance of the Development Coordinator, identify and qualify prospects for the Development Officers.
Support the Development Officers in the preparation of concise and compelling proposals and reports that tell CBOBS’ story and align closely with the donor’s priorities. Must be able to distill complex programmatic information into compelling materials.
Collaborate with the Chief Advancement Officer, Development Committee, and other key staff on strategies to engage new prospects.
Maintain accurate and current records in donor database.
Adhere to the highest ethical standards and fundraising best practices, demonstrate perseverance, and have an optimistic and positive attitude.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation: Commensurate with experience
401(k) with a match. Employees are eligible for participation after 1 year of employment. Current match is 6% of the employee’s salary.

At least 3 years of proven experience and knowledge in the following:
Ability to successfully initiate contact with current and prospective donors through various channels of communication including, but not limited to, telephone communications (i.e. cold calls), personal interaction, and written communication.
Commitment to diversity and inclusion as a team player with a natural affinity for building close, effective working relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
Ability to plan, organize, and accomplish multiple projects concurrently while remaining highly motivated, energetic and enthusiastic.
Database management, knowledge of Salesforce is a plus.
Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Demonstrate initiative and commitment to achieving and exceeding results.

Communicate with expertise, both orally and with the written word.
