The Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA), a nonprofit professional association in Arlington, VA, is seeking a Marketing and Communications Manager. This position will work collaboratively with the Director, Communications to develop engaging, interactive, and effective content for email, web, and social media channels. Specifically, this person will be responsible for developing website content, conceiving and executing email marketing campaigns, and overseeing all aspects of the organization’s social media presence. Ideal candidates will provide ideas to incorporate video and multimedia elements into communications and proactively seek ways to build engagement with INSA programs and services.
Manage website content. Collaborate with staff on the development of engaging and informative content, ensuring consistent tone and perspective. Routinely review site and make recommendations for improvements.
Develop, implement and manage digital marketing campaigns and related communications and outreach.
Oversee the organization’s broadcast email program. Collaborate with Communications Director on campaigns and messaging. Create and maintain an email calendar.
Collaborate with staff, interns and volunteer leaders to facilitate development of content that meets stakeholder needs and organization goals. Proactively look for ways to showcase member expertise through marketing and communications channels.
Attend organizational events (council meetings, policy briefs, networking programs) and share key highlights on social media (summaries/photos/videos). Work with staff on after-action summaries for web and member messages.
Work with outside vendor on design and development of print and web publications and collateral materials.
Stay up to date on new communications/marketing tools and how other organizations and companies are using them. Stay current with Google algorithm changes, SEO best practices and trends to maintain and/or improve search engine rankings.
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or similar field of study
2-5 years’ experience in marketing/communications, digital marketing or journalism.
Demonstrated ability to develop new and creative marketing and communications ideas and strategies—and evaluate their effectiveness.
Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills for both print and digital media.
Proactive problem solver with excellent analytical/organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
Ability to work on multiple projects with competing demands to meet deadlines.
Self-motivated, critical thinker with a keen attention to detail.
Intermediate knowledge of HTML and WordPress.
Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (for Mac) specifically Photoshop, InDesign, & Illustrator (or willingness to learn!).
Proficiency with email management platforms (familiarity with Informz a plus!).
Knowledge of Salesforce, Google Analytics, and/or Cvent a plus.
Interest or experience in the intelligence and national security community desired.
