Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is the chief supervisory, administrative and ministerial position responsible for directing, leading, and guiding Salem in implementing its vision, mission, values, goals, and statement of faith, in caring for the children placed in its jurisdiction.
Essential responsibilities include:
Oversight and implementation of all operations and programs.
Assessment of current programs and creation of a Salem vision to include additional immediate and longterm services.
Development of plans and strategies for executing policies set by the Board of Directors and providing information to the Board in carrying out its responsibilities.
Oversight of personnel management such as recruitment of qualified staff, supervision, training and termination of staff.
Management of governmental relations in areas such as licensing, state and federal regulations, relationships with key legislators and regulators.
Supervision of the management of the physical facility, the assessment of risk management and insurance to protect the operations of Salem.
Exercising sound fiscal management and with assistance of the financial director, prepare and present an annual operating budget to the Board of Directors for approval.
Representing Salem externally by actively engaging in professional organizations, meeting with state regulators and attendance at professional conferences and workshops.
Coordinating public relations by working with the staff in fund raising efforts such as giving presentations, submitting grant proposals, writing articles.
Education and experience:
The preferred candidate will possess a Masters degree in Social Work, Education, Business, or a related field, experience in residential childcare or a related field, and supervisory experience, Or A Bachelor’s degree, experience in residential childcare or a related field, and supervisory experience.
