Koinonia is seeking an Executive Director (ED) with the desire, passion, creativity, vision, and leadership skills to lead the organization to the next level of growth.The ED serves as the external face of the organization, drives fundraising, cultivates new, and strengthens existing relationships, and augments Koinonia’s community presence.The ED is responsible for overseeing the overall direction of Koinonia through the management of key relationships with the Board of Directors, the Operations Manager, other staff members, volunteers, funders, community leaders, and other stakeholders.The ED reports to and works closely with the Koinonia Board to carry out the organization’s mission, implement the strategic plan, and reach the fundraising targets.The ED is an active networker and dynamic public speaker who inspires key stakeholders, donors, and the community at large to support Koinonia’s mission and goals.The ED supervises the Operations Manager who is responsible for the internal management of the organization.The Chairperson of the Board is the ED’s direct supervisor.
Ideal candidates are experienced leaders who have a deep appreciation for Koinonia’s work; the drive and skills to build and reach fundraising targets; a track record of effective team leadership; and are creative, entrepreneurial, and exceptional relationship and partnership builders.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required, preference given to candidates with Master’s or other post-graduate degrees in non-profit management, business, social services, and related fields
Minimum 5 years management/leadership position in a non-profit organization
5 years of demonstrated success leading the fundraising function, and financial management of a non-profit organization
Demonstrated success in staff management, team building, grant writing, and strategic planning in a non-profit organization
Excellent written and oral communication skills including ability to make effective presentations to groups of people
Ability to articulate the organization’s mission to a variety of stakeholders
Excellent networking skills
Demonstrated ability to raise funds, build donor pipelines, and steward donor relationships
Demonstrated ability to oversee financial management of organization
Development, planning, implementation, and management of social services
Knowledge of social media and networking
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Bilingual capability (English/Spanish) a definite plus
Additional Salary Information: Volunteer Position with Potential to become a Paid Position, Depending on Revenue Growth

The Koinonia Foundation is a faith-based organization, called to support adults and children in the Franconia/Kingstowne area. Koinonia helps to meet challenges of daily living by providing food, clothing, learning and emergency financial assistance to qualified clients regardless of beliefs.
Koinonia is the sole nonprofit organization recognized by Fairfax County to provide both short-term emergency assistance and self-sufficiency services to residents of the Franconia/Kingstowne area.
