The Associate Director designs and creatively informs a variety of strategic communications and key institutional platforms including print and online advertising, school-based magazines, direct mail, social media, online and digital assets, event-based materials, presentations, and other branded materials
Branding and Marketing Services: Design Development, Direction, and Execution:
Develops and executes innovative, creative, and integrated visual approaches to support and enhance the University of Richmond's multi-tiered branding, marketing, and communications campaigns.
Develops original visual creative concepts and project specifications for assigned communications materials
In coordination with the Director of Creative Services, assists other design staff on assigned projects to cultivate creativity and guide projects through the design studio or other related creative initiatives. Serves as back-up for the Director and manages the design studio in his or her absence.
Develops and directs highly customized branded photography, illustration, and related graphic assets. Coordinates and aligns brand-based photography and graphic usage across brand platforms
Delivers technically complex design solutions utilizing leading industry software programs
Provides guidance, support, and best-case practices for other team members to extend the brand into online, social, multimedia, and other environments.
Helps manage alignment and integration of materials and resources.
Assures quality control, schedules, and cost efficiency in all phases of production. Monitors deadlines across multiple project suites, adhere to procedures, and budgets at all stages of project development.
Manages relevant aspects of departmental electronic file resources
Strategic, creative, and conceptual development:
Serves as a senior member of the Marketing and Brand Integration team and is accountable for contributing to the development and strategy of assigned departmental and division initiatives.
Works closely with the Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Brand Integration on identified initiatives.
Comprehensive knowledge of effective processes for strategic creative development and integration, principles of branding, and design strategies
Demonstrated superior creative and highly relevant skills in a wide variety of evolving and integrated creative areas, including brand direction, photography direction, web and digital integration, multimedia asset creation, social and mobile environments, branded environments, and visual systems.
Highly aware and able to effectively convey ideas on current trends, best practices, and leading developments in visual identity and brand development.
A strong commitment to collaboration and the ability to work intuitively, flexible, and effectively in a fast-paced in-house agency environment
Ability to effectively contribute and professionally respond to the evaluation and critique of a body of creative work

Demonstrated mastery of leading creative development software, hardware, file creation. Includes proficiency in key components of Adobe Creative Cloud, project management systems such as Basecamp, and Macintosh networking, file sharing, and archiving environments.
Strong knowledge of core online, digital, social considerations, as well as printing and manufacturing, including pre-press.
Demonstrates a strong ability to present and communicate ideas and creative vision
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree required, in graphic design, advertising, communications, or highly related field.
Seven years of highly relevant, hands-on experience in developing, design, integrated marketing collateral, identity systems, branding, communications, marketing pieces, and advertising campaigns.
Previous professional experience at a higher education in-house creative team, corporate or nonprofit in-house creative team, or advertising/marketing/branding agency is highly desirable.

SALARY STRUCTURE: Pay Grade 8 (Hiring Range $65,000.00 to $75,000)
