The American Enterprise Institute, a nonprofit public policy research organization, seeks a detail-oriented Controller. Responsibilities include management of accounting functions and benefits coordination.
Reporting to the chief financial officer, the controller will be responsible for oversight of all day-to-day accounting and reporting activities. This position will also supervise a team of four capable and professional staff members, which includes functional responsibility over general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and financial reporting. The controller will ensure that AEI has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct flawless audits.
This position will work closely with program leaders and their staff to not only educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures but also explore how the Accounting function can support program operations.
The position requires a strong background in accounting, multi-tasking ability and strong attention to detail.
Eight to ten years of progressive experience in accounting positions including staff management are strongly preferred.
A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Business Administration is required.
CPA certification is required.
Experience with Sage Intacct is a plus.
