Department Overview: Pew's Finance department is committed to serving as an excellent steward of financial resources; providing accurate, reliable, timely, and cost effective finance and accounting related products and services; and delivering extraordinary customer service on a sustained basis. The Finance department is comprised of Financial Accounting and Reporting, Operations, and Institutional Investment Management and desires to ensure each position is fully aligned with Pew's mission, strategic priorities and results-oriented culture; and filled by a person with the competencies, skills, experience, and adaptability necessary to deliver extraordinary results.
Position Overview: Reporting directly to the Project Director, Finance and Treasury Services, the Senior Associate serves as an integral member of Pew's Finance and Treasury Services department. The individual will support the Project Director's goal of implementation of Pew's financial management strategy and services across the full spectrum of finance functions including forecasting, analysis, reporting, treasury and cash flow management, banking and investments oversight. S/he will provide financial consulting and strategic support to senior management, including preparing board presentations, financial presentations, Treasury and Investment related analysis, and other projects requested by senior management. This position will be based in Washington, DC.
Financial Forecasting, Analysis, and Reporting
Work with Project Director to provide value-added insight and analysis on the financial implications of Pew's strategic and operational plans.
Prepare scenario planning, financial and cash flow forecasts for future financial decisions and positions.
Support investment portfolio management by reviewing and interpreting investment performance reports and monitoring performance against established benchmarks.
Ensure that investment portfolios are compliant with internal Pew investment policies.
Develop and maintain a monthly KPI scorecard and dashboards using MS Excel to report on Pew's banking and investment related activity including a monthly variance analysis to budget.
Assist in the preparation of analysis, commentary and presentation materials for the quarterly Board of Directors meeting.
Complete special projects, typically involving business data gathering and analysis for senior management.
Ad hoc analysis, as needed.
Support Treasury, Banking and Cash Flow Functions
Work with Treasury Analyst to support all bank account activities, including receipts, disbursements, banking, protection and custody of funds, securities and financial instruments.
Work closely with bank counterparts to maintain positive banking relationships and ensure that high quality service standards are maintained.
Ensure effective monitoring and reporting of banking activities to Finance leadership.
Foreign exchange banking experience is a plus
Bachelor's degree required; concentration in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
Minimum of four years of broad financial experience within a complex, multi-faceted organization.
Expertise with MS Excel and spreadsheet development skills is required; experience with databases and PowerPoint is preferred.
Ability to learn quickly with demonstrated organizational skills; able to manage multiple projects and move quickly from one to another. Good working knowledge and familiarity with PeopleSoft, MS Access.
Ability to work effectively with all levels of management.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven presentation and project management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to identify problems and to develop feasible solutions.
Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
Demonstrated initiative, creativity and perseverance in prior work/educational experience.
