The mission of the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington is to spread the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. In the faithful pursuit of this mission, the archdiocese is seeking a Development Associate, Cardinal’s Appeal.
The Development Associate, Cardinal’s Appeal, is responsible for working with the Director of the Cardinal’s Appeal, Donor Relations Officer and other members of the Development team in handling a diverse and complex set of administrative tasks including assisting with direct mail solicitations, gift processing, donor research, donor record management, and donor relations. The ability to multi-task, focus on detail and professionally communicate with various internal and external constituents is essential.
The Development Associate, Cardinal’s Appeal reports to the Donor Relations Officer, Cardinal’s Appeal.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assisting the Donor Relations Officer in the day-to-day management of Appeal gift and pledge processing.
Assisting in the reporting of Appeal progress, including, gifts, pledges, and donor counts on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis as needed.
Assisting in ensuring donors are acknowledged for their support in a timely manner.
Responsible for the processing of all gifts and pledges to the Cardinal’s Appeal, including the following duties:
Preparing check and cash deposits
Ensuring all gifts and pledges are properly recorded into the Archdiocesan database and online giving platforms.
Verifying gift and pledge entries
Ensuring that all chargebacks and adjustments have been properly recorded.
Answering donor questions/concerns concerning their accounts.
Maintaining the Archdiocesan database
Maintaining accurate donor records including all donor demographic information, donor name changes, and parish affiliation.
Assist in the planning and execution of signature donor recognition and cultivation events for the Appeal.
Participate in donor outreach during peak times of various campaigns for the appeal.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Practicing Catholic who supports the teachings of the Catholic Church preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree in fundraising, nonprofit management, communications, marketing, business administration, finance, or related field.
A minimum of one year related experience in nonprofit development preferred.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, database management, and basic accounting or bookkeeping preferred.
Fluent in Spanish and English preferred.
This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
