The Government Relations Associate will support the Government Relations, Codes & Standards department by providing the following:
Identifying, monitoring and proactively addressing legislative and regulatory issues at the federal, state and local level that impact the swimming pool, spa and hot tub industry.
Analyzing and development of legislation and regulatory initiatives.
Assists with outreach and coordination to relevant membership councils, committees, and coalitions to advise them of important government relation matters.
Provides reports for weekly newsletter and alerts to all membership.
Reaching out to government staff and elected officials.
Assists with the coordination of a grassroots advocacy network.
Assisting with code and standard adoption and interpretation questions at the state and local levels; including, but not limited to updating list of current adoptions, determining opportunities for additional adoptions; and providing a clearinghouse for all interpretation questions that can also become future code and standard proposals.
Schedule conference calls, meetings and travel arrangements.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
2 years working in the government relations arena
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to articulate complex issues and messages to membership
Self-motivated and ability to solve problems
Ability to multi-task
Some travel required
